Did Eve have an extra rib?

Last Christmas I bought my "Christmas book" at Booksale. It has been my personal tradition for the past 18 years to buy a book every December 22 since receiving the very first for Christmas on 1996. From that point on, I made sure I bought a book on that date (though in a couple of cases, I skipped a day or two) and signed it but didn't necessarily read it immediately. Last December, it came down to this book: "Did Eve Really Have An Extra Rib" by Ken Ham. I picked the book because of its humorous title. I even thought of it as a good gift for a Sunday-school student in our church who is fond of trivia. 

Well, so much for the humor. The book itself poses serious posts against the theory of Evolution. In this book, the author, explains that the book of Genesis is the true basis for the origins of the earth. He believes that the earth is young (around 10,000 to 6,000)  and not millions and millions of years old as Evolutionists would point out.

Whew, there's so much interesting facts here that support the Creationist view. I'll try to share it as I go through the book. So, as for the question... Does Eve have an extra rib?

Assuming that you believe wholly and completely what is said in Genesis (the first book of the Bible) that God created Adam and took one of his ribs to form Eve from it (refer to Genesis 2:21-22); then that would mean Eve had more ribs than Adam because a rib was taken out of him!

What a thought! Ken Ham actually says, at first, she did! He further explained that ribs have an amazing ability to regenerate. As long as the outer membrane of the bone (periosteum) is held intact, the bone can grow back. This is further supported by Carl Wield, a physician who underwent reconstructive surgery for his face after an accident. He stated that the periosteum contains cells that can manufacture new bone. Particularly in young people, 'rib periosteum has a remarkable ability to regenerate bone, perhaps more so than any other bone' (http://www.s8int.com/adamsrib.html).

Over time, Adam did grow back his "missing" rib and did not walk on earth entirely with a defect. How amazing is that! God knew exactly the perfect part to make Eve from, without damaging Adam for life.
